ALBUM REVIEW: Suck It

“Suck It” was released last year by The Rumours, a badass, chick-fronted band. The album is a blatantly superior force. Not only is it well-executed, but the track sounds like a 70s rock anthem. The LP was actually recorded while the band was an act of four; however, after putting it out in March of 2020, their lead guitarist was let go.

From Waterloo, Iowa, The Rumours find inspiration in bands like The Runaways, Kiss, Motley Crue, The Donnas, The Cramps. All of which are absolute, glammed-out legends. The Rumours themselves are lighter glam and heavier punk.

By the first track of the album, they had me wrapped around their finger. They produced a distinct taste of their style, and it was purely ingenious. The opening “Hey You” had a quite brutal beat. I overall really enjoyed the track. Carli Foxx’s vocals were harsh and deeply mesmerizing. They were somewhat raspy and added a perfect feel to the album. The booming drums, fresh guitars, and ground-breaking vocals, nicely wrapped up the opening piece.

As for my favorite, I believe I must side with “Electric Blues.” The song is packed with cutting-edge guitar solos and satisfying vocals. In four minutes, you’re granted the pleasure of this ideally blues meets miner glam, meets rock classics, meets punk song.

I really enjoyed the angst of the album. Everything sounded terrific as they clashed together as all. However, each piece of the album, each sound, is so perfect they’d be powerful alone. And as they come together, I suppose you can imagine how genius they sound. One of my favorite lines of the track was, “It’s just me and my guitar.” Their work is badass, giving off massive “fuck you” vibes.

The guitarist and drummer quite literally seem to be on fire while performing “Put Your Love On My Face.” The occasionally backup vocals give the piece a bloody pure feel despite the lyrics. The ending of ‘You Suck, Baby‘ was ass-kicking. You get a moment of breath before the fantastic closer, “L.A. Trends“ kicks off. It begins extremely tough.

In general, the track was packed with powerful beats, vocals, and guitar portions. Fans of glamish-punk should check out the album right away. The group unquestionably ripped my heart out, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
