The Framatics came out with their single titled “Bang Bang.” The band creates “alternative rock with a highly melodic, synthy twist.” I was surprised when I looked into their Spotify. Their single “Look in Your Eye” has a booming backbeat, and the guitarist contains loads of energy. The single is edgy with badass vocals. “I Think You’re Funny” is quite similar. However, “Bang Bang” has a larger pop feel. They all sound powerful, but “Bang Bang” holds a nice modern pop alternative feel.
The group has a fantastic vocalist Mads who provides a unique twist in their cover videos. It’s massively impressive, considering they’re all miles away still putting out excellent singles and covers.
The single “Bang Bang” was released to Spotify last year. It begins with a short of particular sound similar to something I might hear in a Fleetwood Mac album. They recorded the piece in a shed at Liam’s (bassists) parents’ garden. “It was all self-produced and mixed and we’re happy with the final product. The time it took to create meant we could be really detail-orientated,” says vocalist Mads.
They were able to create a strong and detail-oriented final product. The chorus is excellent and sticks around forever. Mads sings, “Why should I waste a breath on you?” I interpreted the song as taking back the power after being brought/let down so often. It’s quite empowering. Adding some sick bass lines and a gleaming backbeat, it becomes a must-listen.
The single was also re-recorded as an acoustic piece. You can find the video on YouTube paired with the visuals Mads and Zach playing live together.
“Vocally I take a lot of inspiration from Debbie Harry, Kate Bush and Elizabeth Fraser. I like how they are able to bring contrastingly soft and hard sounds to their music, and that they aren’t constantly belting,” says Mads. She also went on to tell me, “we absolutely loved the sound on Phoebe Bridgers’ Punisher, so that held some inspiration for us too.”
When I asked what was next for them, Mads responded, “We’ll continue to release cover versions on our YouTube and Instagram accounts, and we’re *hoping* to record an EP at some point this year, although that’s not set in stone. Otherwise we are keeping our fingers crossed for some more live gigs!”
“We want to make music that we like and that we think other people love too. Essentially, we are here to make great music, give people a good time and something to connect to,” – Mads.
