Single Review: Bad Decisions

“Daddy” was a find I couldn’t resist, in all honesty. When The Shedonist recently reached out with a brand new single, I couldn’t be happier. The dominant rock group from Los Angeles, CA, released their single “Bad Decisions” (“a song about free will and how to use it”) earlier today.

Shedonist formed in 2019 after meeting during a show in LA. With three singles available now – on most streaming platforms – they are absolutely crushing it! You can hear more about their sophomore (Daddy) release here!

The single is like butter on bread! Its ending result was brilliant, expanding their range as artists. As I’ve said before, the vocals are a force to be reckoned with. The strong and warm tones of frontwoman Jasmin are beyond charming. It’s that lovely feeling that makes you want to hit repeat. For the Shedonists, the vocals are always dynamic; it’s sort of like their trademark. I can’t get myself to shut up about them.

Musically the instrumental part of this album is slick. It’s clear these guys can play beyond well. They make complex and intricate patterns of music that seem flawless and effortless.

The guitar lines and driving pace of the drums lift this song even further, making it a great price for all occasions.

The lyrics in this song are fun and well put together. “‘Bad Decisions’ was born after a night of questionable activities in the City of Angels. It’s about owning up to and laughing at your mistakes and admitting to yourself that you shouldn’t feel bad about your guilty pleasures. If something makes you feel good, do it. No regrets.”

From start to finish, I was tapping my foot and nodding my head. It’s sort of pop-like while staying true to the group’s rock roots.

I think what sticks out the most to me about this band is the fact they stay true to their sound and to themselves. They continue to make this sound and spread their talents to the world.
