Ink Master ran its last season in 2020; after receiving loads of backlash about judge Oliver Peck and the overall toxicity of the ordeal, the show took a break. Whether Ink Master was unhealthy or not can be a debatable topic, though it’s clear the human canvas jury can be toxic and bring down the confidence of the body that has to permanently wear it. However, when people put their trust in a free tattoo, they can’t always expect to get the best work of art ever. And sometimes, that translates to you getting what you paid for. Despite this, the string of tattoo competitions directly changed the industry and introduced audiences to many of our favorite artists—such as Ryan Ashley, Cleen Rock One, Kelly Doty, DJ Tambe, Anthony Michaels, etc.
On February 24, 2021, it was revealed that “Ink Master” would be brought back for Paramount+ on September 7, 2022. Little was known about who would be involved and if or how they could evolve the series and make it more “healthy”. However, that has not been voiced as a concern yet. On August 5, 2022 “Ink Master” officially disclosed their new harvest of judges—which includes both friendly and unknown faces to the franchise – shaking everything up.
As for the presenter, Dave Navarro, who presided over the proceedings for a record 13 seasons, will be replaced by Good Charlotte vocalist Joel Madden. Though he has been dubbed “Master of Chaos,” Navarro won’t go too far; he will shake things up with unexpected competition twists in each show.
Ryan Ashley, the series champion, will serve as one of the judges along with famous realism tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado and television personality Ami James, a 30-year tattooing veteran. A competitor will leave the 10-episode season with $250,000 and the coveted “Ink Master” title.

Although no artists have been announced as part of the list of talent, since the actual launch is only one month away, anticipate that to change soon. Generation RX, Good Charlotte’s most recent album, was released in 2018.
