A virtual reality concert featuring The Notorious B.I.G. will be broadcast on Meta’s VR and Facebook platforms, featuring a “true-to-life, hyperrealistic” avatar of the rapper.
The event, which is organized in association with the Notorious B.I.G. estate, will feature the late rapper’s avatar playing hits from his discography and guiding spectators through a virtual reality experience in Meta Horizon Worlds’ “The Brook,” a replica of Brooklyn in the 1990s. (If anyone reading this knows what that means, please enlighten me; to me, it sounded like a lot of Zuckerbergian metaverse word salad.)
In any case, this virtual reality concert, dubbed “The Notorious B.I.G. Sky’s The Limit: A VR Concert Experience,” is meant to honor Biggie’s 50th birthday. On December 16, it will debut exclusively in Meta Horizon Worlds’ Venues section (as well as in Meta Quest TV), which can be accessed using a Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest Pro virtual reality headset.

According to reports, the VR experience will follow a day in Biggie’s life via a narrative journey written and narrated by Touré. Also appearing as special guests at the concert will be Diddy, the Lox, Latto, Nardo Wick, and Lil’ Cease. Additionally, DJ Clark Kent will perform a special set.
“Having the ability to create a variance of new opportunity to showcase my son Christopher’s music through the advancement of technology is hard for me to grasp at times,” Biggie’s mother Voletta Wallace said in a statement. “However, I’ve found so much excitement in the process of developing his avatar, understanding the value added for fans to experience him in ways unattainable until now. Thank you to all who have contributed to bringing this project to fruition.”
I mean can we just not?
