Fans will be able to hear a preview of the entire new Mitski album in nine different places abroad, and afterward the artist will screen a movie she herself chose.
The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We is the name of Mitski’s upcoming album. In a voice memo that was posted in her company newsletter and listened to by Pitchfork, she disclosed the title. The lead single from the album will be released on Wednesday, July 26 according to Mitski.
In the video, Mitski is heard saying, “Hello, this is Mitski, and I’m at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville, where we recorded my new album that’s coming out.” The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We is the name of the album, and its lead single will be released on Wednesday.
The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We does not yet have a release date, but it will be Mitski’s follow-up to Laurel Hell, which dropped in early 2022. The same year that Laurel Hell became the best-selling album in the country, Mitski also made history with it when her track “The Only Heartbreaker” topped the Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay chart. One of Mitski’s tracks had never previously reached the top of a Billboard chart before.
