Member State Has Huge News – Conversations With Upcoming Artists

Member State, a rebrand of Tee Bee See, has recently sprouted in the Birmingham music scene displaying energy-packed shows and soon original songs.

On their Instagram, the seventeen-year-olds, leak exclusively a few seconds of work-in-progress pieces, giving us just enough time to get hyped over their sound. They are ready to debut as Member State, writing, “we cannot wait to show everyone what we can do as a band.”

With a unique sound about them, it’s hard not to eagerly wait for their music to drop. As of now, you can watch highlights of their shows on the group’s Instagram. However, if you’re in the Birmingham area be sure to catch them live on August 27th at Castle n Falcon. You can find tickets here.

I got to have a chat with them this week as they revealed everything from huge news to musical guilty pleasures. To hear what they’ve got planned in the next couple of months, be sure to keep reading.

A- Do you have a pre-show ritual?

MS – Our pre-show ritual is that we each get hyped and usually have like a “team talk” before the show starts and take time to appreciate each other and what we’ve done.

A – Are you guys superstitious?

MS – I wouldn’t really say we are superstitious however Ryan our vocalist and guitarist is quite superstitious.

A – What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten as a musician?

MS – One of the best pieces of advice we have had is to be ready for anything within the industry because anything can happen really just like that and to not be scared to do what we are doing because there’s many critics out there but as long as you try to do something and love doing what you’re doing that’s all that matters.

A- What are your plans for Member State – is there new music coming?

MS – Our current plan is to release an album for a December/January release and do gigs to promote our band and the album and the long-term plan is to be one of the biggest bands we can truly be.

A – Do you have a musical guilty pleasure?

MS – Each of us has different guilty pleasures in music for example our co-vocalist/guitarist, Connor enjoys classic 90s/00s r&b coming from a background of pop punk.

Ryan likes reggae but it’s not really a guilty pleasure he’s proud of it.

A – Is there a popular musician that you can’t stand?

MS – There isn’t really any musician that we can’t stand so to say but just ain’t really keen on, we still get influenced by artists we ain’t keen on such as guns n roses. Our guitarist Connor isn’t really keen on what they have written however still finds some of their songs inspirational such as November Rain.

A – Who’s your biggest inspiration?

MS – Some of our biggest influences range from many different genres to name a few would nirvana, blink 182, angels and airwaves, my chemical romance, and Radiohead. You can find some of these influences in some of the tracks we have written and will find more of them when we start recording more.

A – If you were a CD which would you be? Why?

MS – I think if we were a cd we would be My Chemical Romances The Black Parade album because of the songs we’ve written so far and how big technically and instrument-wise those songs are.

A – If music wasn’t a career what would you be doing right now?

MS – I’m sure if none of us was doing music right now then we wouldn’t be happy, we all have something special, and have something special when we all work together.
