Landmarq singer Tracey Hitchings dead at 60

Tracey Hitchings, a former singer for Landmarq, passed away at age 60 from cancer.

After learning of the singer’s loss from her spouse, her former bandmates announced it earlier today in a message on Facebook.

We have to inform you that our dear friend Tracy Hitchings has passed away after a protracted illness, and we do so with a heavy heart and tremendous regret. Only lately had she become 60 years old. We are all in shock right now and want to express our profound sympathies to Tracy’s husband Peter, sisters Dee and Julie, and all of Tracy’s family and friends.

Tracy had a remarkable gift and was a kind person. She has been a more than 20-year veteran of Landmarq and has made a distinctive and important contribution to the group as a vocalist and lyricist. She leaves behind a tremendous musical legacy that will undoubtedly endure.

Hitchings joined Landmarq in 1996, replacing original vocalist Damian Wilson, recording two studio albums with the band, 1998’s Science Of Coincidence and 2012’s Entertaining Angels, before moving to Australia. She left the band in 2017 and had also worked with Quasar, Steve Hackett, John Wetton, Rick Wakeman, Peter Banks and with Clive Nolan and Oliver Wakeman on their Jabberwocky and Hound Of The Baskervilles projects.
